IB Computer Science courses
IB Computer Science (first exams 2027) is organised into two themes: concepts of computer science, covering computer fundamentals, networks, databases and machine learning; and computational thinking and problem-solving, covering programming and object-oriented programming. Students program in Java or Python. Standard Level covers 150 teaching hours, Higher Level 240. HL adds a topic of its own, abstract data types, a longer case-study section, and two-hour papers in place of 75-minute ones. Paper 1 includes questions on a pre-seen case study and Paper 2 tests programming. The internal assessment is a computational solution to a real problem, documented in up to 2,000 words plus a video, worth 30% at SL and 20% at HL.
Offered at Standard and Higher Level; each course below says which.
