IB Geography courses
IB Geography (first exams 2019) combines a shared core, global change — changing population, global climate, and resource consumption and security — with optional themes such as freshwater, oceans and coastal margins, geophysical hazards and urban environments. Standard Level studies two options over 150 teaching hours. Paper 1 examines the options and Paper 2 the core, with structured questions, an infographic and an extended answer. The internal assessment is a fieldwork investigation written up in 2,500 words. HL adds a third option over 240 hours and the global interactions extension — power, places and networks; human development and diversity; and global risks and resilience — examined in Paper 3.
Offered at Standard and Higher Level; each course below says which.
