IB Global Politics courses
IB Global Politics (first exams 2026) builds on a core, understanding power and global politics — power, sovereignty, legitimacy, interdependence and theoretical perspectives — and three thematic studies: rights and justice, development and sustainability, and peace and conflict. Standard Level covers 150 teaching hours, Higher Level 240. Paper 1 analyses sources on the core and Paper 2 asks for essays drawing on theory and case studies. The internal assessment is an engagement project: research into a political issue, including primary research, written up as a report. HL adds eight global political challenges, such as borders, equality, health and technology, examined in Paper 3, worth 30%.
