IB Mathematics: Applications & Interpretation courses
IB Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation (Maths AI, first exams 2021) uses the same five topic headings as Maths AA: number and algebra, functions, geometry and trigonometry, statistics and probability, and calculus, with statistics and probability given the most teaching time. Standard Level covers 150 teaching hours, Higher Level 240. HL adds matrices and eigenvalues, complex numbers, vectors, graph theory, Markov chains, confidence intervals, the Poisson distribution and differential equations, plus a Paper 3 of two extended problem-solving questions worth 20%. A calculator is required in every paper. The internal assessment, 20% at both levels, is the mathematical exploration: an individual written investigation, around 12 to 20 pages long.
Offered at Standard and Higher Level; each course below says which.
