IB Psychology courses
IB Psychology (first exams 2027) studies behaviour through three approaches — biological, cognitive and sociocultural — applied in four contexts: health and well-being, human development, human relationships, and learning and cognition, with six concepts such as bias, causality and measurement as lenses. Students run class practicals using the main research methods. Standard Level covers 150 teaching hours, Higher Level 240. Paper 1 mixes short and extended responses, and Paper 2 applies research skills to unfamiliar studies and to the practicals. The internal assessment is a research proposal of up to 2,200 words. HL adds three extensions — culture, motivation and technology — examined in Paper 3.
